Michael J. Bora Founder, Registered Representative, Insurance Professional
For more than 35 years, Michael has helped people plan for their pre- and post-retirement needs. He’s passionate about helping clients pursue financial success and takes great pleasure in building personal, lasting relationships with multiple family generations.
In 2014, Michael founded Michael J. Bora & Associates to help individuals, families and business owners preserve more of their wealth. To understand clients’ wants, needs and concerns, Michael conducts hands-on fact-finding sessions with every client. Then, he generates conservative yet effective financial models designed to minimize risk and volatility. As an independent financial professional, Michael is licensed to sell a variety of investment and insurance products and services.
When Michael is not assisting clients, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Karen, daughter Shannon, son Lewis, son-in-law Gregory and grandkids, Bodhi and Lily. He also likes to travel, play golf, read and support Chicago’s community events.
Shannon Bora-Cooper Financial Advisor/Insurance Agent
With over a decade of experience in the financial industry, Shannon is dedicated to helping her clients achieve the retirement of their dreams. As Michael Bora’s daughter, Shannon grew up inspired by her father’s work, developing a deep appreciation for the impact thoughtful retirement planning can have on families. She is proud to carry on his legacy while helping clients create a legacy of their own.
Shannon has been with Michael J. Bora & Associates since the firm’s inception in 2014. She takes a hands-on, personalized approach with every client, believing that true diversification across both securities and insurance products builds resilient portfolios. Every client is unique, and their portfolios should reflect that; Shannon takes the time to really get to know each client—their values, goals, and concerns—so she can best create a portfolio that fits their life. At the heart of her practice is a commitment to treating clients like family, creating an environment where they feel at home, confident, and secure in their financial future.
When she’s not working, Shannon enjoys spending time with her husband, Greg, and their two children, Bodhi and Lily. She also loves reading, traveling, gardening, and seeking out new adventures—bringing the same curiosity and joy to her personal life as she does to helping clients achieve their dreams
